After seeing how beautiful Baffin Island was when we were fishing there the year before, my Dad, brother Dave, and I went back in August 1985 to hike. Auyuittuq Park, a Canadian National Park, is at the north end of the fjord. We flew up to Baffin Island in Dad's Baron and landed in the town of Pangnirtung. We hired a boat to take us up the fjord (about 40 miles) and drop us off at the park entrance.The hiking was easy to moderate - the hardest parts were climbing and descending the lateral and terminal moraines and fording streams. Everyone had wet boots by the end of every day.
Becuase of our northen latitude (we crossed the Arctic Circle) and time of year (summer) it was light all night long. The scenery was spectacular and we never ran into a polar bear!
