Polar Bears in Churchill

In late October, 1989 my Father and I traveled up to Churchill, Manitoba to view and photograph polar bears.

As winter arrives all the bears gather at the shore of Hudson Bay waiting for the bay to freeze over. This "concentrates" the bears along the shore and provides an excellent opportunity to see them up close. We went out every day in the Tundra Buggies, vehicles built specifically to travel over the barren, rocky, sometimes soggy shore and keep the passengers safe while viewing the hungry bears.
